Øresund Food Network is a Danish-Swedish network for anyone interested in food related issues in the whole value-chain. Our vision is to make The Øresund Region visible as one of the most knowledgeable, technologically advanced and dynamic regions within agriculture, food production, processing, distribution and consumption.

Øresund Food Network has so far contributed to an increased research collaboration between the two countries. As just one outcome, the joint ØFN research projects have in 2003 – 2005 attracted funds worth 16 million Euros.

In 2005 ØFN was turned into a member based organisation, with a significant membership boom, and the number is steadily increasing. Some are large organisations, while others are new start-up companies. Members come from industry, universities, research institutes and authorities.

Multidisciplinary research projects, seminars & workshops, informal meetings, competence mapping, analyses, lobbying and active networking are initiated and the region and its members are marketed internationally. All this generates new research- and business opportunities.

Increased investments in food related R&D in the region is given great attention. High priority is dedicated to the use of food products in disease prevention and treatment as well as opportunities in more efficient food processing.

Increased competitiveness is obtained through integrated activities with other clusters such as Medicon Valley Alliance in biotechnology and medicine, Öresund IT in food processing and international cooperation on innovation as partner in the international FINE network (Food Innovation Network Europe).
